So where did BBK Direct originate from?
BBK Direct is a multifaceted, cross-border company and at present represented and registered in the United Kingdom and South Africa. The founders of the BBK Direct Company started this journey over 12 years ago, when they started out as South Africans working abroad in the UK for some of the largest home improvement companies. This is where the building of essential relationships started that has contributed to the present day success of BBK Direct UK.
While being involved in the UK/European industries, the founders became familiar with the industry and soon realised that if well-structured, the connection between the UK consumers, tradesman, manufacturers and distributors could be accomplished even more efficiently and an amalgamation of ecommerce strategies and that ‘friendly local neighbourhood’ showroom or installer feeling, is what they would look to achieve in their business model.
Making things cheaper, faster and easier while adding personal touches of customer service excellence to clients’ buying experience and exceeding expectations, the founders finally took it upon themselves to step out on their own and develop the BBK Direct UK (Bedroom, Bathrooms & Kitchens Direct UK) concept.
Over a five-year period of 2010 – 2015, they set out to grow the number of quality products on offer by securing relationships and agreements with some of the UK/Europe’s largest manufacturers, distributors and delivery companies. This has since grown to be one of the UK’s largest home improvement distribution networks. The initial five-year period therefore allowed for endless analysis and learning prospects.
In the last five years we have accumulated contacts, gained knowledge and valuable research; and merged it into a single web presence or company, called BBK Direct UK. This is now the company’s flagship and sells all the products necessary for home kitchen units, fridges, stoves, sinks, toilets, baths, bathroom wall panelling, kitchen worktops, laminate flooring and bedroom furniture to name but a few. Currently, close to 3000 individual products is delivered in the UK, nationwide (Home or Trade addresses) in as little as 3-5 days.
The chosen direction and expertise are home improvement products, installation, construction and other services related to the construction industry with now a vast network of manufacturers and product developers, worldwide.
BBK Direct has had the pleasure to observe and participate in the home improvement industry for many years within the European union, which has given priceless access to the world’s leading products and innovations in the bathroom and kitchen industries alike.
It Is Now Time for BBK Direct SA.
South Africa has still one of the largest and fastest growing construction industries in Africa, being almost identical to the UK in terms of construction materials and techniques, kitchen and bathroom styles, interior design and many other similarities. This is completely understandable due to the British influence and sculpturing of South Africa over decades, before we gained our independence, and even after this the trends strongly continued. Many of these similarities in the construction industry have also caused the same problems in both countries i.e. lack of skilled labour, cost of labour, oversaturated markets, anti-competitive behaviour and monopolisation of industry sectors, which leads to consumers having lack of choice in materials, decors and simply put, diversity. Product suppliers have similar issues, but also include dwindling profit margins necessary for growth and sustainability.
The UK has assisted their markets, industries and companies to react much quicker to these developing problems. These industry issues were counteracted by introducing alternative products, materials and construction methods to stimulate and start renewed growth in a seemingly stagnant market/industry, with great success, and yes, BBK Direct UK was there to help drive these initiatives.
Thus, the BBK Direct SA company and business concept has formed. We realised by simply importing, developing, manufacturing and launching innovative products that we currently trade with in Europe (but not available yet in SA), we could not only transform this industry and how things are done, but positively and ethically influence and solve many of the same issues faced not only in the UK but worldwide, while not only supporting our larger customers but also growing and assisting our small and medium business enterprises.
Leading to only one conclusion - BBK Direct SA is better products that support a better Industry that leads to better living for the end users.
